Strengthening the regional economy depends on Appalachians’ ability to identify community challenges, plan and implement effective solutions, and capitalize on emerging opportunities. Appalachian communities—especially those in economically distressed areas—often lack the resources or skills needed for successful economic development.

Through grantmaking, Academies and Institutes and READY Appalachia, ARC investments support economic development and planning efforts, provide training and technical assistance, and offer educational programming that empower Appalachians to be active participants in strengthening their local economies.
