Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy
The Appalachian Entrepreneurship Academy is an experiential learning opportunity for Appalachian high school students, designed to cultivate creativity and develop essential skills for entrepreneurship.
Participating students develop their business ideas to address challenges and strengthen communities across Appalachia, concluding with a pitch presentation to an audience of entrepreneurs.
In partnership with Appalachian State University, EntreED and STEM West, the program prepares the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and thinkers by fostering innovative ideas that will benefit Appalachian economies and communities.
Appalachian STEM Academy at Oak Ridge
The Appalachian STEM Academy at Oak Ridge is a residential, hands-on learning experience that has pioneered access to STEM-related research opportunities for Appalachia’s middle and high school students and teachers for 30+ years.
High school participants work with award-winning scientists at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Both high school and middle school students conduct guided group science, math, and computer science technology research projects, while high school teachers work with science practitioners to develop STEM-related curriculum.
The program provides students – many of whom come from economically distressed counties – with valuable exposure to applied STEM education, concluding with a graduation ceremony where participants showcase their work.
