Michael F. Morris
Michael F. Morris serves as the Deputy Secretary of State for Local Government at the Department of State. He previously served as an Assistant Deputy Secretary of State and Special Assistant for the Office of Local Government at the Department.
Michael has extensive experience in state and local government including as a Governor’s Representative covering New York’s Capital Region, Intergovernmental Affairs Director for the NYS Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Capital Region Director for the NYS Department of Labor, Government Affairs & Community Relations Manager for the NYS Canal Corporation, Chief of Staff for the Albany County Legislature, Public Information Officer for the City of Troy, NY, and as a Regional Coordinator for the NYS Assembly.
Michael lives in Delmar, NY, with his wife and three children. He holds a BA in Interpersonal & Organizational Communication from SUNY Geneseo, where he also played on the Men’s Ice Hockey team.
